2018 has not been off to great start for me. A few days ago, I had to call off work due to the car I’m borrowing losing power steering (most likely due to the freezing cold). It has been below freezing where I am. Today it is snowing. It has been snowing since around 5 A.M. this morning. The roads are bad and I probably wouldn’t be able to drive the back roads with power steering.
Calling off of work is a terrible feeling for me. I like having a job, and I like paying bills. Calling off work cuts into paychecks. Which means I have to bounce around money and scrap up pocket change even more. On the other hand, I like living and can not afford to pay for a new car if I wreck it so calling off is the lessor of two evils.
The point of this post is to stress the importance of an emergency fund. Always have at least one thousand dollars in a bank account that you don’t normally use. This way if you have to call off you still have money for bills and don’t have to stress as much. I am right now working on getting an emergency built back up because my first car cost a lot in maintenance and repairs I never could keep one for longer than a month.
Enjoy the snow everyone!
